Young Smiles books, where young voices get wings

    Our mission

At Young Smiles Books, we are committed to amplifying the voices, stories, and experiences of marginalized community members and children through juvenile fiction and nonfiction books. Our publishing house is primarily focused on providing opportunities to young writers, up to twelve years of age, and of any cultural background to become published authors.

Children have a great imagination, unique ideas and fantastic stories to share with the world. The books children write and or read have a profound impact on their values, beliefs, and identity development. Representation, or the ability to see oneself and one’s experience portrayed in literature, has a powerful influence on a child’s sense of self.

Our books aim to expose children to new and diverse ideas and perspectives while also helping them to better understand their world and life experiences. At Young Smiles Books, we aim to encourage young ones to find and use their own voices as we instill in them the values of equity, inclusion, and social responsibility. We are also committed to hiring an equally diverse staff in order to publish and promote books that celebrate diversity and the richness of our world.

About Me

¡Hola! My name is Glorimar, and I am an enthusiast of children, nature and books. I love reading aloud and seeing the fascination in children’s eyes as they are teleporting to the limitless world of books.

As a child, I always had a journal with me that I used to write poems and short stories everywhere I went. Listening to “papi”  reciting his original poems, motivated me to write, too. I grew up in Toa Alta, a little town in my Caribbean Island Puerto Rico and it was there I started dreaming about my own stories being published.

I have been teaching elementary children for over two decades, and during that time I have passionately instilled in my students and other children the love for reading and writing.

As a publisher, I am committed to advocate for young writers’ voices to become significantly represented  in the books market. My goal is to offer children ample publishing services so they don’t have to wait to be adults to have their books traditionally published.
